Why Lifeguard Training Matters in New Jersey

New Jersey’s beaches, pools, and aquatic environments are among the busiest in the Northeast. The Jersey Shore alone attracts tens of millions of visitors each summer, and towns rely heavily on lifeguards to maintain safety in strong surf and rapidly changing conditions.

Additionally, New Jersey’s large population and extensive network of recreation pools, indoor aquatic centers, private clubs, and resort facilities make lifeguards essential statewide.

ALA’s certification aligns with:

  • CDC Healthy Swimming guidelines
  • U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) training alignment
  • U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) compliance
  • Federal OSHA safety expectations
  • CDC Model Aquatic Health Code (MAHC) employer requirements

For over 30 years, the American Lifeguard Association has helped lifeguards and employers maintain consistent safety standards nationwide.
